What is a Curator?

A 4Cats Curator’s passion is for art, storytelling, inspiring a love of learning and respectfully fostering independence in children. 

We encourage 4Cats Kids to think of 4Cats as their own studio and artistic space. 

Curators facilitate interesting and interactive art conversation in an engaging, humorous, fun and expressive manner.

We wholly recognize that a child is extremely expressive and is driven by curiosity and imagination. Children possess an enormous capacity for sharing feelings and emotion.  

Everyone in the group is encouraged to listen to one another’s stories, ideas and observations. The input of both curator and young artist is equally valued.

These group conversations demonstrate a child’s capacities to reflect and make incredibly insightful hypotheses on very complex and often abstract thoughts and ideas, when given the time and emotional space to do so.  

When children are literally listened to and given the time, space, tools, techniques and knowledge to express themselves we are faced with children capable of doing so in a much more complex and abstract way.
