How did you first hear about 4Cats? I walked by the studio and stopped dead in my tracks to admire the beautiful art in the window.
Why 4Cats? It’s an amazing opportunity to add more beauty to the world through art. It is exciting and rewarding to work with children and artists.
So far, what lesson has been your favourite? Stop-motion animation because the possibilities are infinite and the process is exciting.
What is your favourite colour? Red. I like red because it is bright and the colour of passion.
Favourite art quote? Art is the achievement of stillness in the midst of chaos. - Saul Bellow. Also: Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep. - Scott Adams
Who is your favourite artist and why? I have two: Eric Carle because his art is colourful and imaginative. Frida Kahlo because her art is extremely powerful and she had the courage to paint what was in her soul.
What is your favourite art medium, and why? I love drawing - there is something very satisfying about creating worlds out of pencil and pen.
So...any other interesting ‘art facts’ we should know about you? I do freelance illustration work (had a 6 month contract for a D.C. based alternative graphics magazine, Bash) and self-publish comics and prints. I exhibit at conventions such as the Vancouver Comicon, Small Press Expo (Baltimore, Maryland) and Stumptown (Portland, Oregon). Art is a lifelong passion of mine, from macaroni sculptures to canvas paintings.
